Accessing Email

The Connexional team are advising that the preferred way to access emails (once they have been migrated to the new system later in the month) is either through the web browser or by using the Outlook app.

Accessing emails using any other application may work but it is unsupported, so it may stop working at some point in the future if more security controls are introduced.

What about POP3 IMAP/SMTP?

Using the suggested methods takes advantage of Microsoft 'Modern Authentication' this is the current recommended and default protocol for accessing emails. POP and IMAP make use of legacy authentication methods which are less secure and have been disabled by default as per Microsoft policies.

The new Microsoft 365 email system can be accessed via a web browser or viewed on the Outlook App using a smartphone or tablet by downloading the Outlook App from the Android or Apple stores for free. Click the Google Play Store or Apple App Store image below to download the app onto a smartphone or device.
